Dieting and a HUGE change in paradigm with some videos.
Ok guys, I think this is going to stir the pot, but I do believe that this guy is correct. This guys name is Jorge Cruise, and has a new book coming out in January called The Belly Fat Cure, also a movie is coming out which I don't know much about, maybe its called Death by Sugar, or something like that.
Ok, now here are some of the concise statements that he has made to change everyone's paradigm and directly challenge the old one.
He states that people don't gain weight by eating to many calories, people gain weight by having high insulin, and high insulin is caused by sugar and carbohydrates.
He states that having high insulin locks in belly fat.
Then he says that to lose weight you do not need to count calories, or cut calories, you only need to lower your insulin, and if you lower and manage your insulin levels you will lose weight regardless of how much you eat.
His specific method for lowering and controlling insulin is called the "Fifteen-Six", which means 15 grams of sugar and 6 servings of carbohydrate.
----The Rules for the "Fifteen-Six"----
1. You must eat less than 15 grams of sugar a day.
2. You must not eat more than 5 grams of sugar in a single meal.
3. One carb serving is 5-20 grams
4. You must not eat more than 6 servings of carbohydrate a day.
5. You must not eat more than 2 servings of carbohydrates (up to 40 grams) per meal.
He says that if you can count your carbs in this fashion, that you will be controlling your insulin and you will lose weight fast.
Ok, so I started this 2 months ago and set out to prove him wrong. I did the 15-6 like he said, but I upped my calories sky high! I started to eat extra fat and protein on purpose. For example, I eat 1/2 pound bacon cheese burgers from a local bar on a regulair basis, but I toss the bread and put it in a low carb wrap. I have been eating Low carb cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, which is over 600 calories a slice, and has like 39 grams of carbs, I put heavy cream in my coffee with stevia every day. Low and behold I have lost 8 pounds on a diet that would normally make me fatter from excess calories. Dude, it's the 15-6. I am losing weight on a extra high calorie above maintenance diet. In fact I am sick of overeating all the time, and I am ready to stop this insane high calorie diet because now I get really warm and feverish after so much food. I even have red wine all of the time. I did no exercise at all during my experiment.
Please do not automatically reject this because it is a change in traditional thinking, I believe this guy did it, its like he broke the diet code. All this info is free on youtube

Questions
Hi
It's like a Keto diet. I practised it and I lost 6 kg. It was lots of fun to eat cheese, sausages, bacon, mayo.
I don't think it can be practised for that long though.
When starting a diet, I would recommend it. The transition to different eating habits should be gradual and not sudden. Keto helped me this way.
Nice info. I tend to agree. He is right about the leptina an sugar!
Dr Sears covered that territory years ago. I have two points to say:
1. It is insulin insensitivity that is the problem AND too many calories in general. High insulin is anabolic as hell at the right times.
2. I eat low calorie but shit loads of carbs especially post workout, never been leaner never recovered quicker. This now at 42 as opposed to high protein low carb diets in my 30's.
My two cents.
me. Everywhere u look people say their approach to diet is the right way - low calorie balanced diet, low carb high protein, high fat, paleo, intermittent fasting! I don't know where the heck to begin!
Hey Joszzzef, I looked up the Keto diet, and I have seen that term thrown around on the forums. I just think its somehow contradictory that I or anyone can eat like that and lose. So the Belly Fat Cure would have similarities to the ketogenic diet. One thing that Mentzer said is that the science of any subject should be a correct description of it, and it should tell you exactly what to do. The thing that I like about Jorge he does this when he gives exact numbers on the volume of sugar and carbs, or 15grams and 6 servings. If you go any higher on the sugar than 15 grams 6 servings you will start to gain.
Ashortt, Yeah I'm with you on the insulin insensitivity. I'm the type that spent my teens and 20's addicted to sugar real bad. Which is why I think this low sugar thing is helping me, and believe me I worry about thing like heart disease from all this cholesterol and stuff. I have noticed at the times in my life where I stopped eating sugar, deserts, and stuff like this, I found that I would not gain weight even if I overeat, but once the sugar intake goes up I get fat fast. I think that if I got thin and lowered the sugar, that I could eat lots of carbs also.
There does not seem to be one unified theory on diet as far as I can see.
Here is another one of his links
It basically depends on your training goals--low glycemic foods cause spikes in insulin, and insulin is anabolic--with a solid workout regime, it'll cause muscle and fat gain. Without said workout regime, it'll cause fat gain.
If you're going to be training intensely, you're going to need some carbs. If you don't believe me, try cutting out all carbs for 72 hours and then try a heavy squat. Just promise me you'll set up the crash bars first :D Six servings of carbs per day is 1200 calories--that's roughly half of your day's calories. So Mr. Cruise isn't talking about a ketogenic diet at all, he's simply keeping his carbs within reason, and making sure he gets no refined carbs, sugars, or low glycemic carbs. This keeps insulin in check, which in turn keeps your blood glucose levels normal and your leptin levels high, even in times of relative famine (diet), and assures fat loss as opposed to muscle loss.
As for the balance part--mostly people are referring to fat when they say that. Some people eat way too little, as they're deathly afraid that the fat they eat will be transferred more easily to body fat. In actuality, the biochemical processes for converting dietary fat to body fat is much more involved than the process for carbohydrate to fat. The only reason you have to watch your fat intake is that per gram it's 2.25 times as many calories as carbohydrates. Eat as many nuts and use as much olive oil as you like, it won't make you any fatter as long as your calories are correct. In all likelihood, it'll actually help you lose fat and build muscle--most people are frighteningly estrogen dominant nowadays and fats stimulate testosterone production.
And take a multivitamin :)
Hope that helps to clear it up
Michael

Very interesting Andrew. Your photos certainly display a more than impressive level of leanness so you can't argue with that!

Thanx Sir, when I stop chickening out and let myself fill out before stage I will look even leaner I think. Anyway to me one should stay with a scheme that is balanced for their needs NOT someone elses idea of the supposedly 'best' diet.
I am sure that if someone had Mr. Sahli do their diet he would find out all sorts of things baout you and your needs and tune into that - that is how one gets the best.
I have been following a low carb(less that 40), moderate protein(200) high fat(150 to 170) on non training days. On training days I eat tons of carbs with less protein and fat. So far I am recovering a few day faster.
The Belly Fat Cure needs to be modified for HIT trainiers (in my opinion:) )
Andrew,
What dose carbs are you getting PWO and is it one meal or several? What is your weight, caloric intake and macro's?
Thanks
David
Andrew,
Go to intensemuscle.com and do a search on Skiploading. Skip has a great way to make sure you are both full and dry. Fullproof and simple. I used this method many years ago and it worked great.
Let me know what you think.
